Capitol Commission Header

Welcome

I am honored to be your Capitol Commission State Minister serving the leaders and staff at the Wisconsin Capitol.

My heart is to share the love of Jesus with all Capitol members who desire to know more about His peace, His love, and His acceptance through the Savior. My prayer and desire are to encourage the state leaders to be all that God has called and created them to be.

What a privilege it is to pray for and spiritually encourage those entrusted with the governance of the people of Wisconsin. 1 Timothy 2 tells us the importance of praying for those in authority. I encourage you to do the same!

My presence at the State Capitol will allow for the opportunity to share the Word of God one-on-one and/or through regularly scheduled Bible Studies.

I ask for your prayers that hearts and minds will be opened to the hope and strength found in Jesus.

Dr. Doug Halsne

As a young boy, growing up in Green Bay, Wisconsin, a career in sports was the only future I could imagine. However, as a 14-year-old, I heard the Gospel of Jesus Christ from a public school teacher and immediately became a believer. Little did I know what God would do from that day forward.

At the age of 18, I embraced the call to train for full-time ministry. My passion to share what Jesus had done for me as well as my desire to study the Bible led me to Trinity Evangelical Divinity School to complete the Master of Divinity degree. I later earned a Doctor of Ministry degree from Covenant Theological Seminary. My ordination is with the Evangelical Free Church of America.

It has been my joy to serve as a Campus Pastor at Iowa State University, an adjunct Faculty member at Grace Theological Seminary, and to have been involved in pastoral ministry as a church planter, lead pastor, and, more recently, traveling internationally to train pastors and ministry leaders. My wife and I currently worship at Longmeadow Community Church in Mundelein, IL where I am a part-time pastor.

I have been married to my dear wife, Kay, since July 1978. She grew up on the mission field of Chile and is fluent in Spanish (and cooking)! We have two adopted children and two granddaughters.

My great joy in life is to see people come to experience all the benefits of the Gospel in every area of life.

I am delighted to serve as the Capitol Commission Wisconsin State Minister, sharing gospel hope and spiritual strength through a pastoral presence to all Capitol members.
