Gospel Hope & Spiritual Strength for Government Leaders
Last week marked the commencement of the 83rd session of the Nevada Legislature in Carson City. Over the next 120 days, our representatives will meet to debate numerous issues and ultimately enact laws that will affect the lives of all Nevadans. Our elected officials have undertaken tremendous responsibility in service to the people of Nevada. While they are accountable to those they serve, more importantly, they are accountable to God. According to Scripture, He has appointed them for this time to do good according to His will.
“Let everyone be subject to the governing authorities, for there is no authority except that which God has established. The authorities that exist have been established by God.” (Romans 13:1) “…For the one in authority is God’s servant for your good…” (Romans 13:4)
Will you join me in praying daily for our legislators and all the staff who work diligently to serve Nevadans? Capitol Commission offers a powerful prayer tool called Pray1Tim2, rooted in the command of I Timothy 2:1-4.
“I exhort therefore, that, first of all, supplications, prayers, intercessions, and giving of thanks, be made for all men; For kings, and for all that are in authority; that we may lead a quiet and peaceable life in all godliness and honesty. For this is good and acceptable in the sight of God our Saviour; Who will have all men to be saved, and to come unto the knowledge of the truth.”

In addition, may I encourage you to call or send a kind note to your legislators to let them know you are praying for them? They would certainly appreciate the encouragement. The legislators who serve your area can be found at https://www.leg.state.nv.us/ You are also welcome to visit the Legislature building to watch a committee or a session. Please reach out to me if you come. I would enjoy meeting you.
Lastly, would you pray for me as I minister to all who work in and visit the Legislature building? I would appreciate prayer for wisdom as I navigate the political environment, for Divine appointments, and for the courage to boldly proclaim the name of Jesus for all to hear.
