National Prayer Breakfast Week
The first week of February, Donna and I led a team of thirty-three to the 73rd Annual National Prayer Breakfast in Washington D.C. I cannot think of a better time to go and pray for our nation. On Thursday morning the President, Speaker of the House, Senators, Representatives, and leaders from forty-seven states and 120 plus nations gathered to hear about a Carpenter’s Son.
Yes … these are challenging days. Yes … something is wrong with our world. Our fall from God’s original design has brought brokenness, blaming and division, but our hope is in the reconciling and bridge-building power of Jesus. I rejoice that I am part of an international family of friends who use their time and leverage their influence to promote hope to the world through the person of Jesus Christ. This world desperately needs Jesus.
I had appointments with leaders from Louisiana on Capitol Hill. It was a special time to hear their concerns and pray with them. I had an enjoyable conversation with Doug Burgum, the newly confirmed Interior Secretary. Noa Argamani was with us for breakfast. After 245 days in captivity, Argamani was rescued from Gaza. Our very own Louisiana U.S. Representative Julia Letlow and Speaker of the House Mike Johnson gave powerful talks at the National Prayer Breakfast. A Prayer and Repentance Gathering took place in which forty-plus members of Congress and Parliaments of the world offered prayers of Repentance and Petition.
The most important moments took place in one-on-one conversations throughout the gathering. God shows up every year. His presence and workings were unmistakable.
