Kentucky Capitol Update-February 2025

Greetings from Capitol Commission Kentucky …

Without a doubt, session is the busiest time for our legislators, the capitol staff, and for Capitol Commission. Legislators are currently in the midst of the 2025 General Assembly and with that comes immense pressure and countless visitors to our capitol. Despite it being “short session,” the capitol and annex have been very busy and the workload is immense. Fortunately, this opens countless doors of ministry and engagement.

Unlike the month of January where legislators were in town for only a few days, February has been dominated by session. Legislators are in session nearly every weekday through March. One of our priorities during this time is delivering personalized study Bible’s provided by Understanding the Word ministries. I continue to be amazed at how well these Bibles have been received and it is rewarding to hear how they are being used and to even see some legislators bring their Bible to our weekly legislator Bible study.

The legislators have been receptive in receiving their personalized Bibles. Thank you Understanding the Word ministries for providing them.

As we continue to share the Word of God with legislators by putting Bibles in their hands and teaching Scripture to all who would come, we are also partnering with churches from around Kentucky in reaching the capitol community. I want to particularly thank Rich Pond Baptist Church in Bowling Green for joining me in Frankfort. They helped deliver Bibles, meet legislators, run our table, and engage those at the capitol. I love partnering with local churches. Together, we want to reach as many souls as possible including those in government.

While the work at the capitol is at its peak, we are still traveling the state to meet with believers, churches, and others to share about what the Lord is doing. Recently, I was invited by Cornerstone Christian Academy in Shelby County to speak with their students about Capitol Commission. I enjoyed joining other gospel-centered ministries who are serving our state in a variety ways. The students and faculty asked great questions and were a joy to hang out with. As you can tell by the photo at the top, we had a great time.

Before concluding …

One of the many blessings of Capitol Commission is to watch the Lord expand our reach and the ministry. These last four years have been a tremendous joy as we have witnessed the Lord’s blessings over and over. Expansion of ministry does mean a need to expand our resources. As a result, we are hosting a dinner and concert fundraiser on March 6 at the Foundry in Frankfort. We will not only enjoy local BBQ from Staxx, but also enjoy the music of Ashley Renea who led worship at last year’s Pray First Service in the Rotunda.

You are invited to join us. You can register online by clicking here. You can donate to the dinner by selecting “events” here.

More could be said regarding all the Lord has done in February. If you would like to support us, you can begin by praying for our elected leaders by signing up for our Pray 1 Tim 2 email. If you want to financially support us, you can donate below. I am always looking to partner with local churches, ministries, groups, and others to reach the capitol for Christ. If interested, please let me know.

As always, you can follow the ministry on Facebook which is updated daily or visit the other social media links below. I am grateful for your continued support. Together, let us reach every soul for Christ.
