Updated on February 16, 2010
It is with great anticipation that we move forward with final preparations for the Pastors’ Statehouse Day on Tuesday, February 23, 2010. Thank you for your participation with us in this! We pray that this opportunity will open doors of further ministry with your elected officials and encourage them in their God-ordained positions.
We will begin our morning together at the Government Center South where check-in will begin at 8:30 a.m. See the attached maps for nearby parking garages and their prices as well as a guide to the main auditorium inside the Government Center South where we will meet. Please be sure to give yourself ample time to pass through the security at the Government Center.
Below follows a tentative agenda for the day.
- Check-in (this is a necessity!): 8:30 - 9:25 a.m.
- Special speakers: 9:30 - 11:30 a.m.
- Walk to Statehouse: 11:30 - 11:45 a.m.
- Bible presentation and lunch with legislators: 12 noon – 1 p.m.
If you haven’t already done so, please make sure to contact your legislators to establish a meeting with them on this day at noon. If you have emailed them and have not received a response, then call them right away. (Numbers: House: 800-382-9842; Senate: 800-382-9467.) This will increase the likelihood of their attendance.
Remember that the goal of this event is to bless your legislators with the gift of a Bible and develop or further relationships with them that will have an evangelistic and/or discipleship impact in their life. Please note the emphasis of this meeting is on the Gospel and not on politics! It would be good to have a business card from your church to give them in order to nurture relationships spawned from this meeting.
Thank you again for your desire and commitment to invest in your leaders this way. I look forward to meeting you in person next Tuesday!

*Previous update*
This is a wonderful opportunity for you to develop or further relationships with your elected officials and, as Sen. Dennis Kruse stated, “to encourage them in their God-ordained positions.”
Here are a few highlights of the day. You will have the opportunity to:
- Hear from Sen. Dennis Kruse, Rep. Peggy Welch and other government leaders in the morning session, from 9:30-11:30 a.m.
- Learn why we need the Gospel proclaimed in the political arena. (Acts 9:15, Acts 13)
- Discover tools to pray more effectively for our leaders. (I Timothy 2:1-4)
- Walk over to the Statehouse to meet your legislators and present them with a Thompson-Chain Reference Bible embossed with the Indiana state seal and their respective name.
- Eat lunch in the Indiana Statehouse Rotunda provided courtesy of Chick-Fil-A.
There is absolutely no charge to attend, and we welcome you to invite your fellow pastors! Our vision is to see at least one pastor from each of the 150 legislative districts present their legislator with a Bible. Space is limited and we may need to limit registrations from each district, so please register as soon as possible.
We appreciate your participation as we seek to minister to the spiritual needs of our elected officials. You may register via the mailing form you were sent, or here by February 12, 2010. If you have already registered, thank you, and we look forward to seeing you!
After you register, please contact your legislators to establish a meeting with them in the North Atrium on February 23, 2010 from 12 noon – 1 p.m. (Numbers: House: 800-382-9842; Senate: 800-382-9467.) Should you need assistance in determining who your legislators are, please contact us or click here.
We will be contacting registrants with further details leading up to the event on February 23. However, you need to know that doors will open at 8:30 a.m., and everyone must check in before 9:30 a.m. The event will conclude around 3 p.m.
Should you have any questions, please do not hesitate to contact me here

Sincerely,
Rev. Matthew Barnes
